Barry Buhler (Guitars/Vocals) was only 15 when he knew that God was calling him to ministry. He attended Providence College where he graduated with his BA in worship in 2007. His heart beats for missions, music and worship. In 2009, Barry spent 5 months in Europe serving with Youth With a Mission (YWAM). He described it as an incredible experience that changed his life, his perspective and his walk with God. He also enjoys speaking to youth and challenging them in their faith. Some of his musical influences are David Crowder, Hillsong, Jeremy Camp, Jacob Moon and Tim Hughes.





Patrick Sawatzky (Bass Guitar) finished school in 2009 and has been farming and collecting Chevy trucks since. He can be seen texting at almost any moment. Some of his favorite bands are Trip Meter, Pillar and Thousand Foot Krutch.






Kristy Rogers (Keys/Vocals) graduated in 2008 from a Graphic Design program in Winnipeg. Currently she spends her weeks working for a small print shop and Friday nights as a youth sponsor inn MacGregor. Her musical influences are Mia Fieldes, Casting Crowns and Natasha Bedingfield.





Derek Friesen (Guitars) graduated High School in 2004. Since then he has taken a course in acoutic guitar and repair. Currently, he works in a small-town cabinet shop and plays guitar in 2 bands: The Fall & Assault and Illuminate. His musical influences are As Cities Burn, Thrice, John Mayer, Beloved and the Goo Goo Dolls. His favorite Illuminate experience is cramming 6 guys into a small tent at the Jesus Manifest in Dauphin. He especially loves to barbecue in flip-flops.




Tyson Unrau (Drums) studied classical percussion at Brandon University after high school. Now while working at a local cabinet shop, he has travelled to Quebec City to study drums at the Wizdom Drumshed. Outside of Illuminate, Tyson is involved with some different projects including a groove-based rock band with Derek. Tyson's favorite Illuminate moment was playing at Jesus Manifest in Dauphin and meeting new friends. He is last seen beating everyone at the PS2. His musical influences are the Yellow Jackets, James Brown, Hopesfall, Vinnie Colaiuta, any recording Steve Jordan is on, Weather Report, U2, Miles Davis...
